Every year we make a list and plan out projects, things we know we need to get to and the fun ones! This helps us stay motivated to tackle all the mundane upkeep of a home, and planning/designing the cosmetic and fun projects making our house our home! I highly recommend! See my project list, goals and inspiration from last year HERE.
2022 PROJECTS – YEAR IN REVIEW
PRIMARY BEDROOM REFRESH
This project started the beginning of the year, and kind of snowballed in December with adding a new wall treatment, DIY Limewash. Spoiler: I love the technique but not the color so it’s changing soon. I thought I wanted moody turns out I love that in other spaces but my bedroom it didn’t feel right. Sometimes you just have to try it.
We also did an IKEA hack for our dresser – sharing soon (because that never made it to the blog last year, oops!) wood nightstands, drapes, rug, and decor. A few simple swaps made it feel so much more elevated.

DIY COFFEE TABLE
This is a good one! Major designer inspired table for less using 2 boards! I stained it black and it is so sharp. I love that the wood grain shows yet the black stain feels so rich.
KITCHEN RENOVATION
This project took a couple months over spring-summer and was so worth the effort. We tore down the shiplap replacing with a gorgeous organic tile floor to ceiling, similar to zellige! Updated sink pendants, added sconces and cute minimal spice shelves, plaster range hood, built out the island for a more craftsman style, built-in coffee bar, updated the breakfast nook with beadboard on our banquette, new DIY oval table and gorgeous black dining chairs. Still to come new hardware and breakfast nook pedant this year!

OUTDOOR REFRESH
We updated our outdoor spaces with a new super comfortable sectional and decor. We spend so much time outdoors when it’s nice so we can’t wait to add more this year to our spaces.
PICTURE FRAME MOULDING WALL TREATMENT
After our kitchen renovation I knew our entryway had to be next. It’s close to the kitchen and the only wall left with horizontal shiplap so I wanted to add a simple yet modern and elevated wall treatment for this space. I’ve been itching to add picture moulding and this was perefect! I absolutely love it, bonus this project is so easy!
WOOD BEAMS
This is one of those projects I had hoped we’d get to before fall and the holidays and I’m so glad we did. It was really simple and I included another variation to DIY if you want larger beams. Even 8′ ceilings can have beams! Trust me on this one. It adds so much to a space!
VENETIAN PLASTER FIREPLACE
I’ve never loved our corner fireplace. It’s always been the sore thumb of our family room. But I didn’t care for the painted brick anymore and wanted something more organic. First, we didn’t remove the brick we re-covered it so it took several coats of joint compound and ardex feather finish to get a smooth surface. Then, we transformed it with an easy DIY Plaster finish. It has so much movement and texture. I love the organic vibe!
It’s really rewarding looking back over everything we accomplished last year. Truly so much closer to making this house our home. It’s always a process.
