ORGANIC MODERN HOME OFFICE & DESIGN STUDIO REVEAL

Filed in DESIGN & STYLING, PROJECTS & DIY — May 10, 2023

It was time my home office matched the rest of our interior, and let me tell you, a few decor swaps can make a huge difference! Of course, I took it a few steps further adding new flooring with the marble checkerboard tile, new desk and chair. But it looks like an entirely new space without any change to the footprint of the room.

If you have or need a home office keep scrolling for some inspo and ideas, and if not cute decor!

This isn’t just my home office – I needed to make this space a little design studio as well. Until I have a big storefront I wanted to create a little bit of that vision right here at home. A place I can take design meetings, pull samples, and really create the interiors of my client’s dreams in.

The marble checkerboard tile really is the drama focal of the room. I anchored the space with a beautiful custom DIY warm wood desk. The built-ins we had before but I took a shelf out, re-painted, and re-styled with all the earthy beautiful pieces I love so much.

Big tip when working with a space that has little to no natural light, it’s best to brighten it up as much as possible. One way to do that is with mirrors, they reflect light and make a space appear bigger. I love this Walmart floor mirror – it’s 71×32 which is a great size and only $150 a complete designer dupe and such a steal! This plaster side table is also an affordable piece that looks very splurge worthy. It gives the space the organic modern and earthy feel I want but is smooth and so functional as well.

I needed massive storage for my design samples- fabric, tile, counters, cabinets, paint decks, all the things. I used a couple wood bowls to store paint cards and fabric swatches I grab most often. Then, the beautiful sample wall! My favorite samples are displayed on these minimal wall art shelves. I love how this became it’s own piece of wall decor.

This massive bulletin board was a fun and quick DIY (tutorial to come!). I made it oversized to fit this wall so I can pin up current projects like a real life Pinterest board. It looks so clean and simple. This would be a fun addition for a kid/teen bedroom!

The space may be smaller but it sure packs a punch, and is the perfect home office/design studio! My earthy organic modern retreat I wouldn’t mind all the OT in!
